3 GIF Artists that I Like

Min Liu

I was blown away by his "Bloody Dairy" series. He makes these funny-scary loops that are so pleasing to watch. I also love how his illustration style is so simple yet has all the needed details. Especially the hands! Hands are so complicated and to break them down into flats and lines requires a great amount of practice and observation.

James Curran

I am a long-time follower of James Curran ever since I studied Motion Graphics. The animation is incredibly smooth and professional-looking. But I was totally hooked when he started the "Tokyo Gifathon" series, where he animates all his experience while traveling in Japan. He would post a photo of him eating ramen and at night there would be a funny representation of what he did during the day! Since I always travel to Japan, I found his adventures so relatable.

Yukai Du

Probably one of the most recognizable styles I have seen. The ample serving of dots and lines makes the animation full of energy.  I also love how her artworks can be both abstract and tangible. Sometimes I feel like her work bridges the gap between illustration and fine art.
